The Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov | Translated by Robert Corrigan Role: Masha Directed by Gail Shapiro Northwestern University, Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts
November 2025
After studying Chekhov in their Northwestern acting cohort, Nastia and her peers were able to convince (with puppy-dog pleading) their esteemed and beloved Professor Gail Shapiro to direct the tight-knit class in this timeless story. Chekhov writes a tale of three sisters in provincial Russia who yearn to return to Moscow as they grapple with their monotonous lives and unfulfilled dreams. Masha, the unhappily married middle sister, engages in a passionate affair with Colonel Vershinin and watches her life blossom before it is ultimately, devastatingly stripped away back to emptiness. A profoundly human tale brought to life by a group of close friends and passionate young actors, this play is one of Nastia’s most fulfilling artistic experiences to date.
