The Oresteia is a trilogy of ancient Greek plays chronicalling the rise and fall of the House of Atreus. The vengeful and bloodthirsty Clytemnestra, wife of Agamemnon, seeks justice for the sacrifice of her eldest daughter. She concocts a horrific, ruthless plot to murder her husband and his mistress upon their return from the Trojan War. Her reign is subsequently cut short when her own son, Orestes, kills her to avenge his father.
